I arrived at CBC in September of 2022. Our church calls me Pastor Josh or Josh; I’m happy with either. I’m married to Gia, well above my station. How? It’s gotta be God’s grace. We have three Viking-like sons (except they love Jesus) and a little princess. We’ve been so grateful for our reception at CBC—a warm, gifted people treasured by God. I grew up in Mississippi and felt a call to pastoral ministry in high school, but thought God got the wrong number. I knew I wasn’t holy enough. Public speaking terrified me. I dreamed of wealth and success. But, in college, I increasingly became captivated by Christ, and, more and more, sought to make him known. After college, I interned at Capitol Hill Baptist Church in DC where I learned to love Christ’s church and received encouragement to pursue full-time ministry. I received a Master of Divinity in Biblical and Theological Studies and later a Doctor of Ministry from Phoenix Seminary. Much of my ministry experience from my internship to today has been focused on church revitalization. I served as Lead Pastor of Trinity Bible Church in Phoenix, AZ for 13 years before arriving in Centreville. While there, the Lord brought fresh life to our church, a body I still love deeply. I also served as the Director of The Gospel Coalition Arizona, created and led a Master of Divinity accredited internship out of our church, helped launch the Grove Church Planting Network, and served on the board for Hope for Addictions. I continue to write occasionally for 9Marks and The Gospel Coalition. As you know, past successes don’t promise future returns, but CBC has a palpable sense that the best is yet to come. We’re excited to join Jesus in his mission of glorifying God by making disciple-making disciples, and we’re eager to see more people saved, Christians equipped, leaders raised up, and churches planted. If you get a chance to join us on Sunday, please look for me, I am usually by one of the doors or talking to people after service in the foyer. I’d love to meet you.
